Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street (formerly Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center) is a 136-bed, general acute care, not-for-profit, community owned hospital located in Pottsville, Pennsylavnia that meets the healthcare needs of the residents of Schuylkill County.

Pottsville is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, with excellent, four-season recreation.  Rural, yet within 2 - 3 hours drive to Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City. This family oriented region is renowned for its excellence in education, low crime and reasonable cost of living.

Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is primarily responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients.   The RN also participates in the discharge planning process and education of patients. The RN demonstrates the knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served, including growth and development, assessment and interpretation of age specific data, treatments and communications.  The RN may  care for infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients depending on unit assignment. 

Qualifications

An employee assigned to this classification must possess the mental and physical capabilities to perform the responsibilities and duties of the nature listed above.  In addition, the employee must possess the following qualifications:  
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient relations skills particularly as they demonstrate ability to effectively lead a health care team.
 
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations and events.
 
CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
 

Specialty certification pertinent to unit [such as Chemotherapy, Emergency Nursing (CEN), Critical Care (CCRN), etc.] is preferred.
