This state-of-the-art facility is located on the 4th floor of Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street, Pottsville and operates under a physician-driven model. We use evidenced-based clinical pathways to heal chronic, non-healing wounds in a timely and efficient manner.
Patients are seen and treated on an outpatient basis.

The Center offers modern and advanced Patient Examination Rooms as well as two Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers for patients who need advanced wound care.
Dr. Mohamed Meeran, Vascular and General Surgeon is the Medical Director. Joining him on the physician panel are Dr. Carlos Villareal, Vascular and General Surgeon; Dr. Neil Fisher, General Surgeon; Diana Lazur, Internal Medicine, Dr. Cindy Lubinsky, Internal Medicine and Dr. Gary Cortese, Podiatrist.
Hyperaric Oxygen Therapy or HBOT is a medical treatment in which a patient breathes 100% oxygen while under pressure in a hyperbaric chamber. Through the course of treatment in the Advanced Wound Center, patients undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their wound and any underlying causes of the wound. Treatment typically lasts between six and 16 weeks.

What is the purpose of breathing oxygen under pressure?
Breathing 100% oxygen (o2) under pressure dissolves more O2 in your body’s blood which is then delivered to those areas that are having trouble healing due to the lack of o2 in the surrounding tissues.
How long does a treatment last?
An average treatment lasts approximately two (2) h ours.
What conditions benefit from HBOT?
- A person with diabetes and a wound that is slow to heal or is not healing.
- Someone with damaged tissue from radiation therapy
- Someone with a skin graft that has a questionable blood supply
- Certain infections of the bone and/or skin
- Anyone with a wound that has shown no improvement in four weeks
Our specially trained staff can assist you and your physician to explore the best treatment options for you. From the first time you enter our center, to the last day of your prescribed treatments, you will be cared for by our National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, Certified Hyperbaric technicians.
Our hyperbaric chambers are 34” in circumference so you will have plenty of room to move about and the clear acrylic will allow youto see completely around the chamber room.
